Colosseum, the State Council agrees with Gherardi: green light for the restoration financed by Della Valle

The Council of State has decided, with a sentence filed today, the question of the public tender relating to the restoration works of the Colosseum: the restoration works, financed by Diego Della Valle's Tod's group and started by the Gherardi company, will be able to continue. A note therefore explains that the works were financed, with a sponsorship contract for an amount of 25 million, by Diego Della Valle's Tod's group and that after the dispute between the two companies (Gherardi and Lucci) that participated in the tender, managed by the Superintendence for the archaeological heritage of Rome, the supreme body of administrative justice has deemed that the works, already begun by the Gherardi company, can continue.

In fact, the Council of State confirmed the sentence of the Regional Administrative Court of Lazio, challenged by Lucci and not also by the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities, and considered that Lucci had not demonstrated, through appropriate certification, the possession of the actual technical design capacity required by law for the purpose of the restoration. The rigorous assessment of this requirement is imposed, the sentence states, by the particular importance of a contract concerning "a monument of unique historical significance dating back to the first century after Christ".
