Peggy Guggenheim Collection, the new digital site is online

In a historic moment due to the Coronavirus emergency, digital communication is playing a fundamentally important role in the transmission of content and information, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection launches the new guggenheim-venice.it website, entirely rethought in terms of graphics and contents, developed together with the Basilico agency.

A platform was built which is a real gateway to the museum and its innumerable initiatives and activities, a communication tool with a fast, essential and recognizable design, which allows intuitive and immediate access to information related to current exhibitions, artists and works in the collection, scheduled appointments, information on how best to plan your visit and online ticket purchase. An information channel, therefore, always updated, but also a real digital archive, always in progress, with insights on the masterpieces of the Collection, the figure of Peggy Guggenheim, her life between the United States and Europe, and the history of Palazzo Venier of the Lions.

At the beginning, four main sections allow you to arrive at as many macro areas according to the types of interest. From section Your Visit, designed to better plan your visit to the museum, with opening hours, information on how to get there, accessibility, services, current exhibitions and activities, Public Programs open to the public, and useful information on the Museum Shop and the Museum Café , we move on to the section ART, an area more closely linked to the artistic heritage. Here you can consult all the works and artists in the collection, with related biographies and explanatory texts, current and future exhibitions, insights into the life of patron Peggy Guggenheim, as well as a focus on the conservation projects that the museum has been pursuing for many years. Another fundamental section is the dedicated one to EDUCATION: here it is possible to learn more about all the programs designed for schools, families, children, the public who visit the museum every day, the public with visual impairments, and the fourth age. In the section EXHIBITIONS AND EVENTS a real calendar has been created, constantly updated, on what happens day by day in the museum, as well as an archive in which it is possible to consult past exhibitions, while the section SUPPORT is dedicated to those who believe in art and want to support it by joining the museum and thus living a unique experience.

From the point of view of design, a "mobile first" approach has been adopted, thinking of an audience increasingly connected by smartphones, therefore a clean and minimal design that features works of art, images and videos, without navigation is compromised by graphic elements that are too invasive. The general "look & feel" follows the lines of the museum, with an essential and at the same time distinctive and easily recognizable style. The typography has been optimized to the fullest, precisely to underline in a sober and at the same time peculiar way one of the distinctive features of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection.

The new site, still being implemented and enriched with contents, was created for absolutely autonomous management by the museum staff, who will be able to gradually update their web platform with new and original contents so that it can best fulfill to its role as an online resource accessible to all. Always in step with the museum's mission and the needs of the public, the site must be, today more than ever, an active tool of knowledge, education and communication in the hands of Peggy Guggenheim Collection, which is on the threshold of its fortieth anniversary since its opening on April 6, 1980.
