Sotheby's and Napa Valley Vintners Collaborate, given the success, continues until 2027. This ongoing relationship, which began three years ago, has brought remarkable growth and success to both the Napa Valley wine industry and the global wine community. Together, they have supported local Napa Valley programs, raised significant funds, and introduced wine enthusiasts around the world to Napa’s finest wines.
Since the report began, year-over-year growth has been impressive, with sales increasing 66% over the past three years, from $4,2 million in 2022 to $7 million in 2024. Napa Valley Vintners sales now account for nearly 30% of Sotheby’s U.S. wine auctions year-to-date, a significant increase from 13% in 2022. With this renewed commitment through 2027, both organizations seek to build on these achievements and leave a legacy of impact. During this time, Sotheby's has fueled Napa Valley Vintners (NVV) and Collective. Napa Valley's (CNV) year-round charity auctions have created new opportunities for consumers, collectors and wine connoisseurs from around the world to discover more of Napa Valley's celebrated wines and the region's renowned community collaboration.
Events and auctions for 2025 to support local initiatives
In 2025, Sotheby's and Napa Valley Vintners will feature several key auctions that will continue to highlight the best of Napa Valley wines and raise essential funds for local initiatives.
Napa Valley Premiere – February 22, 2025
This prestigious event will offer wine merchants the opportunity to bid on rare, one-of-a-kind wines made exclusively for the auction. Bidders may do so in person or online, with proceeds supporting the ongoing work of Napa Valley Vintners.
Napa Valley Auction – June 6-7, 2025
Napa Valley returns with its own barrel auction on Friday and live auction on Saturday. Anyone, anywhere in the world, can host classy hospitality and festivities in Napa Valley by participating in the auction experience through Sotheby's online bidding. In June 2022, Sotheby's brought NVV's innovative bidding style online to the public for the Napa Valley Barrel Auction.
As the largest wine producing region in the United States, Napa Valley accounts for only 4% of California's grape harvest, but an astonishing 30% of the state's wine value. With 95% of Napa's wineries being family-owned and many producing fewer than 5.000 cases per year, Napa wines are highly sought after for their quality and rarity.
