In next Thursday's monetary policy meeting, the ECB will evaluate the purchase of government bonds of the countries of the area. This was stated by the French economist Benoit Coeurè, member of the board of the bank led by Mario Draghi.
In an interview with the French newspaper Libération the ECB member said that in Frankfurt they will take into account the experience of US central banks and Great Britain in this type of expansionary monetary policy. The assessment of the ECB board will concern the amount of bonds to be purchased in order to recreate confidence in a rise in consumer prices in the Eurozone, bringing them back to a level close to 2 percent.
