Coca Cola bets 4 billion on China

Coca Cola will invest 4 billion dollars in China between 2012 and 2014 to build new bottling factories, expand the range offered and improve existing plants in what is now the third largest market in the world for the American soft drink brand.

The investments represent a new quantum leap for the Atlanta company after the total amount spent by Coca Cola and its partner bottlers to grow operations in China was $2011 billion in the three years ending in December 3 . In the first six months of the current year, the American company doubled its sales performance of five years ago, reaching 1 billion cases sold.

In 2011 a new plant was inaugurated which will be followed by a new opening and the start of work for a third factory by the end of December for a total of 230 million dollars invested and 940 jobs created. Among the possible operations considered to increase the roots of the brand on the Chinese market and to finance its growth, there is also the listing on the international exchange of the Shanghai stock exchange.
