Cnh Industrial strengthens its network of plants in Italy. According to the press release, the company's strategic plan provides for some Italian plants to absorb part of the activities from the production sites in Madrid and Valladolid in Spain, "so that the latter can focus on a new mission of exclusive production of commercial vehicles from the Iveco heavy range" . "This transfer of activities from Spain to Italy - the press release specifies - represents a significant opportunity to maximize the production capacity of the Italian plants". The two Italian plants involved are Suzzara, which currently produces the Daily, a vehicle in the Iveco light range, and Piacenza, which produces heavy vehicles for the Iveco Astra brand, intended in particular for missions in quarry-sites and for the construction sector, and products for the Iveco Defense Vehicles brand.

All European production of the Daily will therefore be concentrated in Suzzara and consequently the plant will need to increase its workforce. This solution, continues the press release, will contribute to resolving the issue linked to occupational surpluses at the Brescia plant, which has seen a reduction in its production volumes due to a substantial fall in market demand for medium-range vehicles. “Suzzara – we read – will be able to guarantee employment to over 600 Cnh Industrial workers in Brescia by the end of 2016”. As regards the Astra plant in Piacenza, from the second half of 2015 it will inherit the production of special heavy vehicles and chassis for defense vehicles now carried out in Madrid with the creation of over 40 new jobs.
