Club Med, Bonomi writes to Paris and rejects the Chinese

In the race to conquer the Club Med, Andrea Bonomi rejects the Chinese of Fosun. In a letter sent to the Club's headquarters in Paris, the Italian investor, competing with his Global Resorts vehicle, expresses "strong concern" about the project carried out by Chinese competitors who have presented an offer of 22 euros per share .

In particular, Bonomi questions the tourist vocation of the competitors of Gaillon Invest II, vehicle of the Chinese conglomerate Fosun and its controlling shareholder, the Chinese billionaire, Guo Guangchang. "Fosun - he writes in the letter - has limited experience in tourism" contrary to what is stated in the presentation of the Chinese group, judged "misleading".

Other doubts are raised "on the financial structure of the project presented by Gaillon Invest II and Fidelidade, oriented towards the short term and intended to put pressure on the company" with possible repercussions on employment. Instead, Global Resorts emphasizes that its action and that of the other shareholders involved in the investment consortium is set on a long-term project with greater possibilities for lasting growth.

Lastly, the Chinese shareholders - continues the letter - will pursue a development strategy mainly oriented towards China, "without any commitment towards the French and European markets" .
