Air conditioners: sales boom, even for children

From the Blog PAOLA'S HOUSE Double-digit increases for volumes sold in chains specialized in electronics and on Internet portals. Prices drop, challenge between splits and laptops

Air conditioners: sales boom, even for children

The official data will arrive sooner or later but even now the budgets of the consumer electronics and household appliances chains and groups are exuding sensational double-digit increases, so to speak. It seems that the sales of splits have risen in volume in the hot period just ended by 15% and those of laptops by as much as 30%. The performance of the fans was also very positive. The only element that is not comforting but usual is the further fall in prices (-30 Euros compared to last year) and in fact the increase in sales in value was respectively 5,6% for the splits and 10 % for laptops.

To an exceptional demand from customers, with the hunt shop by shop for air conditioners and fans, some groups and chains have responded with the usual self-defeating system: promotions with heavy sales. A constant loss of value and truly insane margins. Who are the leaders of the Italian market? For the splits, Daikin is in the lead with 22%, followed by Samsung, Mitsubishi, Panasonic and finally by Midea which has been progressing for years, growing steadily and with a very extensive series of models.

The air conditioner for the children

As for laptops, the De' Longhi challenge wins once again. In the ranking of the protagonists of air conditioning, Midea is starting to stand out which, among other things, is among the no. 1 in world air conditioning, a vocation also confirmed in Italy where a large part of the activity of the Chinese multinational comes from air treatment; in fact, the turnover reached 2016 million euros in 52 and of these 40 are generated by the climate.

The range of air treatment appliances, one of the widest and most varied available today on the world market, reserves a few surprises which we consider useful to point out: Kid Star, the class A++ air conditioner, designed for children. It is equipped with a teddy bear-shaped remote control, which does not break and has a sensor that prevents sudden cooling during sleep. If the child discovers himself, for example, the sensor captures, thanks to the infrared rays, the thermal change of the body and immediately lowers the ventilation and the temperature.
