Turin is ready. Rome, Bologna and 15 other cities - to date - are preparing to act as the Italian corollary to the 2018 edition of Climathon from 26 to 27 October. The international event for solutions against climate change arrives in a country in the midst of energy and environmental transition. Municipalities that want to participate still have a few days to register. They will increase the already large number of 120 cities spread across 40 countries.
The preparation of the event started many months with the commitment to create the Main Stage in Turin. It will be the first time. However, Climathon will also arrive in Rome thanks to the collaboration with the Municipality of Enea, Telespazio, LazioInnova and other qualified Italian companies. In the capital, students, entrepreneurs and ordinary citizens will be able to make proposals and present ideas against climate change. We will certainly talk about sources of heat, resilience, heat peaks, rainfall, circular economy. And there are many expectations, since a virtuous circular economy system is considered a good measure to mitigate climate change. At the end a jury will reward the proposals that will come out of the organized teams.
Beyond the specific situation of Italy, between Turin, Rome, Bologna the Report presented by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) will also be analyzed recently in South Korea. The report has been criticized for some scientific understatements. But the contribution to understanding in which destructive direction the planet is going is beyond question. Over 6.000 scientific references conclude that if the threshold of 1,5^ is exceeded, the earth will not be saved.
