Climate, no agreement at the G7 energy: stop the USA

The two days of the G7 energy meeting in Rome ended today. The ministers of the most industrialized countries have not signed any joint declaration on the climate.

The reason was explained by the Minister of Economic Development, Carlo Calenda, according to whom “the US administration is in a process of reviewing climate policies and therefore reserves its position. Therefore it was not possible to sign a joint declaration but a report from the presidency” which sees Italy as the country on duty. For other countries, he added, "firm and strong objectives remain".

Despite this, the Mise number one assured that "there was no friction whatsoever". “We respect the fact that the US administration is at a stage where it is reassessing its position. There was no friction on single points, the approach was very positive”, underlined Calenda.
