Clessidra launches the confectionery pole and through Balconi it also buys Baroni

After the jewels of Buccellati here are the wafers of Baroni. With the acquisition of 100% of the Veronese company by Balconi di Nerviano, a company already 80% controlled by Clessidra, Claudio Sposito's private equity fund has created a new national confectionery centre building a group of bakery products that ranks in the top five or six positions of the national ranking behind historic brands such as Ferrero, Barilla, Bauli, Colussi, Galbusera, Balocco and in direct competition with them.

With the Balconi-Baroni aggregation the Clessidra confectionary group makes a significant dimensional leap and is preparing to strengthen itself on a national level but also to attack foreign markets, exploiting the expertise of Balconi (150 employees and 150 million euros in turnover per year) which already today generates 55% of its revenues from international markets. The new group, which has a broad product portfolio, based on wafer biscuits and snacks, is ready to forge and strengthen partnerships with discount stores and large distribution centers by virtue of a competitive positioning that leverages product quality and a commercial that focuses on low cost. Naturally, in Clessidra's plans, the strengthening will come from expanding the customer portfolio and optimizing production.

Throughout the year Balconi and Baroni, while converging towards common objectives, will nevertheless remain distinct entities even if both controlled by Clessidra.
