RANKINGS – Greater Milan: GDP and per capita income beat Berlin and Barcelona

La Great Milan is between best macro-areas in Europe both in terms of overall GDP and per capita GDP, surpassing Rome, Barcelona and Berlin. A survey carried out by the Chamber of Commerce of Monza and Brianza on data from Eurostat and the Business Register which highlights how the macro-area of Milan, including Lodi and Monza and Brianza, ranks fourth in Europe in terms of GDP (almost 185 billion euro) behind only the area of London, Paris and Madrid.

The Italian economic capital remains in the European top ten also in the statistical comparison of per capita GDP with the main European metropolitan areas. In fact, according to this study, the per capita GDP of the Milan macro-area stands at 44700 euros, behind Amsterdam, London (50600 euros), Brussels, Paris (53 euros per capita) and Stockholm. Rome only stops at 37600 euros per capita. It immediately catches the eye how the Lombard capital practically compares itself with economic districts that belong to five important European capitals. This is proof of those who define Milan as Italy's "locomotive".

The strength of Milan could also be much greater but what is stopping it are above all the evils of our country such as bureaucracy, slowness of justice and too many taxes.
