The “Citizens of Europe” conference organized by the Permanent Observatory for Young Editors and UBI Banca will be held in Brescia on Tuesday 11 April 2017 at 11.00 in the UBI Banca Corrado Faissola Conference Room.
Speakers: Franco Frattini, president of SIOI, former vice president of the European Commission; Victor Massiah, managing director of UBI Banca; Andrea Ceccherini, president of the Osservatorio Permanente Giovani-Editori and Dario Di Vico, columnist for Corriere della Sera.
The "Citizens of Europe" project is an innovative path, a new project in an experimental version, aimed at forming increasingly active, responsible citizens, informed of their present and masters of the means at their disposal, a special initiative on Europe . A new courageous challenge that aims to bring the theme of Europe to the classes involved, a true European culture that does not remain only on paper, but becomes a real common experience of all citizens in Europe through a process that will certainly be an incentive for the students to their future and their training, both personal and didactic.
An educational path to European citizenship, which provides for the use of both paper and digital newspapers in the classroom, managed in full autonomy by teachers who will be able to count on a teaching support created specifically for them: a targeted and reasoned aid created thanks to to the pool of trainers of the Observatory, who studied an ad hoc training model to be introduced in schools in the chosen area, so as to bring effective training and information modules on the European Union, the European institutions and the fundamental values of the Union into the classrooms .
For the schools in the areas covered by this new project (the provinces of Brescia, Bergamo, Varese, Turin, Genoa) it is a unique opportunity to test a new training model within the context of the citizenship education path through an experimental method , innovative and very coherent with the current needs of young people.
