Cinque Terre with limited number, soon also in Florence and Venice?

The boom in visitors who arrive at the Cinque Terre Park to enjoy the beauties of the place he convinced the administrators to launch the now famous limited number.

For some time the controls on numbers and flows have been intensified, but from 1st June we officially start with the new plan: “We counted the people, characterized the paths, found the elements of fragility. Regulating the flows is necessary in order not to create dangerous situations for the tourists themselves, but also crowds” These are the words with which Vittorio Alessandro, president of the Park, explained the novelty.

But the example of the Cinque Terre could soon be followed by other prestigious locations. Minister Dario Franceschini himself announced that "sooner or later access regulators will be needed", citing Piazza San Marco and the Trevi Fountain as examples.

Venice, but also Florence, could therefore decide to regulate access to certain areas. Not surprisingly, 10 days ago the Venetian capital approved a resolution which provides for the experimentation of people-counting systems "aimed at improving or limiting access to the city", but there are still some hesitations on the limited number.

As for the Cinque Terre instead, to access the wonderful paths of the Park you will have to buy a Card, which will also be on sale online. A smartphone app, Cinqueterre Hiking, will also arrive shortly, which will signal crowds and stops in real time, recommending alternative routes. “It is not the limited number we are looking for – specifies the president of the Park -. It will probably depress a certain type of tourism, but it is not a choice of exclusion, if anything of election and qualification. And our territory, small and fragile, must be protected with the collaboration of everyone, from mayors to commercial operators".
