Five Stars, latest idea: do not convert the decrees into law

The Five Stars never cease to amaze: a government decree on Golden power was being discussed in the Senate but, after reports and debates, the government itself had second thoughts: they will talk about it again who knows when

Five Stars, latest idea: do not convert the decrees into law

The Government issues a decree, but then he reconsiders and renounces to convert it into law. It can happen that a decree does not arrive at its transformation into law within the established deadlines, but that the Government itself renounces its own decree is not an everyday occurrence.

It happened in the Senate, in the Finance Committee: where on the agenda was the start of the examination of the decree on the so-called Golden power to strengthen the protection of national security in areas of strategic importance. And the rapporteur, Senator Laura Bottici of the 5 Star Movement, also reported in detail on the contents of the provision which, in general, establishes the extension of the terms for the exercise of special powers by the government.

A meticulous report, at the end of which the undersecretary for relations with Parliament Vincenzo Santangelo intervened, also a five-star who, precisely with reference to the decree in question, made it known that "the Government does not intend to insist for conversion into law, also in consideration of the fact that a bill to regulate the matter of national IT security in a more organic way will soon be submitted to the examination of the Council of Ministers".

An acknowledgment followed and the topic was “updated”. In other words, it will be discussed at an unlikely date.
