Cinema, "Spider-Man: Homecoming": the pains of the young Peter

“The world has changed and we will change too”. This is the opening sentence of the new film in the Spider Man saga, which has just arrived in cinemas. Each of us is surrounded by a daily future and everything revolves around the seemingly normal things that surround us. It is a world that fascinates the new generations so much and, perhaps, not only. It is a future of the present in the making, where the rituals and myths of adolescents in search of identity coexist with the great challenges of the new technologies of the adult world, which do not always make the best use of them. And, finally, it is a future where transitions between generations take place, with the desire to grow and emancipate ourselves from those who have preceded us.

The new Peter Parker - the young Tom Holland - returns home after previous adventures with the Avengers and is now grappling with a crisis of identity and role. He is still a young high school student, all taken up with an interest in his contemporary Mary Jane, with dance parties and, at the same time, with the desire to no longer be the super hero next door, of the neighborhood, the one who helps people old women to find their way home. Now he wants to present himself as the savior of humanity against the evil geniuses. Will he make it to the leap? Will he be able to enter the true Olympus of the great guardians of human well-being? The bad guys, in this case the Vulture, with the excellent Michael Keaton, will never win but will do everything to always try.

It is no coincidence that this character from Marvel comics has been among the top positions in the ranking of super heroes for over fifty years. He has been able, and still manages, to encompass the whole universe of the attentions of the adolescent public: adventure, dream, challenge with the world of adults, solidarity between friends, first loves at school, fragility and strength. In this case, he often gets carried away by an excess of confidence with youthful languages and behaviors, just to curry favor with the box office, but perhaps this happens to the detriment of the screenplay's creativity.

However, the film offers us a mixture of feelings and emotions that the general public always likes. Special effects at the right point, just enough to make the more adventurous scenes fun and enjoyable, considering that we are still in a season not inclined to the fortunes of blockbusters.

In the long, articulated and complex history of Spider Man, the film does not disappoint and makes the cost of the ticket well. It will probably not enter the ranking of the most watched of its series but it will not be in the last places either. After all, such a character is destined to remain in the collective imagination for a long time.

Spider Man is the result of a recent agreement between Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures and suggests that we will see some good ones. The sequel is around the corner.
