Cinema, a noir from Italietta: on FIRST Arte the review of "Villetta with guests"

Villa with guests, film signed by the director Ivano Di Matteo with Marco Giallini and Michela Cescon, has been in theaters for a few days: it tells a story of ordinary fear in an unspecified place in the north-east of Italy, where an apparently wealthy and influential family finds itself at the center of a tragedy that overwhelms them, together with the local policeman from Neapolitan origins, the doctor, the parish priest, the maid and her son and other characters of Romanian origins. Everyone has a few skeletons in their closet…

Su FIRST Art the film was reviewed, with a positive opinion, by the cinema expert Patrizio Rossano, who explains: "It is a film far from that all-Italian genre of provincial, bourgeois noir, of social conflict, of rich against poor, of Italians against immigrants, where works by Piero Germi, Mario Monicelli, and among contemporaries, the cynical and ruthless Virzì of Human Capital come to mind. Villa with guests it is placed in a middle ground that is not fully defined: in fact, it fails to be as scathing as it could be, let alone as compelling as it would like”.
