Cinema, "Sconnessi": the panic of a family without... WiFi

"Sconnessi" deals with a central theme of our times such as the growing dependence on cell phones and tablets but the script, lyrics, direction and acting leave much to be desired - Of very close political relevance instead "I'm back" by Luca Minero with the ghost of Mussolini who reappears

Cinema, "Sconnessi": the panic of a family without... WiFi

What's more difficult, choosing a movie to see instead of one that is better to leave alone? When the offer is relatively large, the doubt is recurrent and it is not always easy to resolve the dilemma. We were faced with a complex decision this week. On the one hand, a film in the sentimental novel genre was proposed, set in London in the 50s, on the other, an Italian film of contemporary "chronicle". The choice fell on the latter, to remain in continuity of reading on how cinema tells, describes, our society, its limits and its difficulties.

The film we propose is disconnectedby Christian Marazziti. The plot is as simple as it is already known: a group of people, a variously assorted "family" finds themselves in a mountain cabin for a weekend vacation and it happens that the WiFi does not work and no one is able to connect with cell phones to call or to connect to the network. Panic breaks out and everyone is forced, in spite of himself, to have to deal with other people waiting to return to "normality". There is an interesting background - which we will not reveal - which reflects well the complexity not so much of the plot as of the theme addressed. As known, it is a genre of film in many respects seen and reviewed, with the lead Perfect strangers. In this case there is nothing more or better than the previous or other films that describe the events of a group of people in an interior. Indeed, to be honest, there is much worse: from the screenplay to the coarseness of the texts, from the direction to the acting skills of the protagonists. In short, a film that will struggle to enter the history of Italian cinema. However, without taking due account of the subject, the centrality of the problem dealt with in the film, the relevance of which many feel and no one knows quite what to do and how to deal with it: the pathological dependence on cell phones or Internet connections, passing through social networks to finish to gambling addictions. All connected, all isolated: everyone is apparently connected to the rest of the world where there are more active Sims than inhabitants. All this happens, often, in total solitude, glued to the display of the mobile phone or tablet. disconnected it can be seen as a further photograph of a reality that may not even be liked but which, in any case, belongs to us and is very close to all of us.

Side note on the cast: from Fabrizio Bentivoglio to Carolina Crescentini together with the other supporting actors, it is reasonable to expect something more than the minimum wage.

To stay on the Italian news told at the cinema, let's add a proposal for a film still in theaters (and we hope it will stay a few weeks longer than usual): it's about I'm back by Luca Miniero, with Massimo Popolizio and Frank Matano (excellent). The topic is of very close political relevance due to the well-known events that have taken place in recent weeks and as much as, not only in Italy, there is debate about the return of themes and ghosts from the last century. The film tells of the accidental reappearance of Benito Mussolini in Italy, intent on reviving the regime, and of how he finds the country again more than 70 years after his fall. There is much to ponder. He deserves the ticket.
