Unfortunately, we are forced to admit that a certain type of film in Italy, in Europe, cannot be made where, on the other hand, in the United States they all seem to be masters even when they make medium-level products.

After our Easter review, today we are talking about the Great Robbery genre, a trend that has rarely disappointed viewers. In our country, in particular, very few titles deserve mention: it is enough to remember Bandits in Milan by Carlo Lizzani of 1968 and I soliti ignoti, by Mario Monicelli made ten years earlier. For the rest of the great films of this vein, you are spoiled for choice with titles that have fully deservedly entered the history of cinema: a unanimous judgment places Asphalt jungle, by John Houston from 1950, and then Armed robbery by Stanley Kubrick, Reservoir Dogs by Quentin Tarantino and many more. For the writer, the favorite remains Inside Man, by Spike Lee from 2006.

It hit theaters this week In the den of wolves, written and directed in his debut by Christian Gudegast, with a cast that is little known in Italy but very respectable in acting starting with Gerard Butler (he seems to be Russel Crowe's younger brother) and two much better known supporting actors in the United States as rappers rather what actors: 50 Cent and O'Shea Jackson Jr. The story is that of a great robbery of the Federal Reserve Bank in Los Angeles, a seemingly impregnable fort. A group of criminal experts wants to try the big shot, where others before them have failed miserably. Tension and adrenaline are not lacking and for the most part the film follows a known script and, somehow, one could easily guess how it could end. Instead, at the end comes the somewhat surprising twist and it is understood that we will soon be able to see a sequel.

The film sufficiently holds up to expectations: the pace is fast, the text sparse enough, there are still some narrative grammar mistakes and too many lengths that are easily forgiven for the benefit of reading action movies which characterizes it. Note the passage where the good guys, the policemen, seem or are really bad, for a good purpose in order to arrest the criminals. There aren't many spaces for moral considerations: everyone plays their part and finds what they are looking for. It is not easy to see such products, in its form and substance, it is well worth the ticket price and the three star rating.

Small side note for those who love entertainment on the big screen: this week the initiative is repeated Cinema Days, promoted by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism, together with Film Producers, Distributors and Operators, by 9 12 to April which allows you to see films for just 3 Euros and, in some circuits, the promotion doubles for the following week. For those who have missed them, there are still excellent films in distribution: we report The Shape of Water, The Hidden Thread, Tonya and Italian I'm there.
