Cinema "Green", the first dedicated campus is inaugurated in Abruzzo

Il green cinema is a trend. A more or less organic way of building stories, telling them, producing them while respecting the environment. Established and young authors approaching with the prospect of attracting different audiences. The end result could be very similar to rallies against climate change with a mix of young and old. However, there are few places to exploit such captivating projects and productions and it is a pleasure that Italy has thought of a dedicated location. In fact, the first artistic residence focused on will start in Abruzzo in the first days of June eco-sustainable productions. It is called CinemaAbruzzo Campus, and it is the first in Europe entirely dedicated to sustainable film production. The facility will accommodate 14 filmmakers under 35 from all over the world and has already obtained recognition from the Directorate General for Cinema and Audiovisual of the Ministry of Culture. There will be two months of theoretical lessons not only on green producing, but also meetings on environmental issues, lessons from professionals in the sector and thematic insights: from pre-production to audience development strategies. The Ministry of Culture through a loan, will guarantee the realization of seven cine-audiovisual projects.

There are the first green protocols

The productions must be in mode at all stages carbon neutral to then be distributed for arrival in cinemas. The choice of Abruzzo undoubtedly rewards Italy and, however, can encourage other Regions to organize artistic contexts with identical characteristics. The selected filmmakers will stay in Forme di Massa d'Albe, a Municipality immersed in the Archaeological Area of Alba Fucens and the Sirente Velino Nature Reserve. Of a more general nature, it must be said that cinema faces a challenge of our time which involves not only the creation of ecological subjects but productions with a low environmental impact. THE action movie above all, seen in the dining room or at home, they are in a certain sense the denial of care for the environment and natural heritage. How many studios in the world are equipped to save resources, set up eco-sustainable sets and scenography? We will see, because the first real point will be the initial investments to be capitalized then with a certain number of productions. And the moment worldwide is not the best. For now, the first protocols and specific certifications, such as the Green Film Rating System, give some hope. In Italy, the film is remembered in this regard Happy Lazarus by Alice Rohrwacher, made in a completely sustainable way. A kind of Italian primacy in the country which, coincidentally, invented neorealism where the scripts did not include the superfluous.
