Cinema, production boom and China threatens Hollywood

Cinema, China is not only on the heels of Hollywood but is also expanding its influence elsewhere in the world. This was stated in a report edited by Entgroup, the Chinese film industry research company, which found that 29.6 billion yuan (4.76 billion dollars) was generated last year by the production of 338 films made in China, an increase of 36% on 2013, a result obtained in a difficult market and while North America recorded a drop of 6%.

According to the report, the quality of films produced by Chinese companies is growing rapidly with 54,5% of the total box office revenue generated by domestic productions. It is a success that comes after the share of film imports has grown from 20 to 34% and without taking into account the success of "Transformer 4: Age of extinction" the most watched film in China.

Entgroup estimated that the booming film industry generated more than 50.000 direct and indirect jobs in China in 2014 and revenues of 68,7 billion Yuan.
