China: manufacturing activity continues to rise

Chinese manufacturing activity expands again. The provisional PMI index, published by the HSBC bank, recorded growth to 50,9 points in December, against 50,5 in November (revised from 50,4), when Beijing had returned to registering its first progress after 13 months ( 49,5 points in September).

The 50-point threshold marks the boundary between expansion and contraction of activity. "It is a confirmation - explains HSBC - that the recovery of growth in China has accelerated, essentially thanks to domestic demand".
