Beijing reported a $5,35 billion surplus last month, while analysts expected a $3,2 billion deficit.

Surprisingly positive China trade balance

Back to positive China's trade balance, which in March recorded a surplus of $5,35 billion, after the highest deficit of the last decade – at 31,48 billion – marked the previous month. The data released today is higher than economists' expectations, which had estimated a deficit of $3,2 billion.

Le exports rose 8,9% year-on-year to $165,66 billion, while cheap imports they grew by 5,3%, to 160,31 billion, marking a very strong slowdown compared to the +39,6% in February. Expectations were for an increase in exports of 7,2% and imports of 9,3%.
