Mixed signals from the Chinese economy. Service sector activity regained some momentum in February, while manufacturing continues to show signs of trouble.
According to the latest official data, the non-manufacturing PMI rose to 55,0 points (the highest in three months), against 53,4 the previous month, while the manufacturing PMI, edited by Markit/HSBC, it reached 48,5 (preliminary 48,3), remaining for the third month in a row below the 50 point threshold, which marks the border between expansion and contraction.
The official survey on manufacturing, released on Saturday, showed a slowdown in activity to an eight-month low, with the index at 50,2 from 50,5 in January.
