China's non-manufacturing PMI rose to 56,3 in October from 55,4 in September. This is the highest level for thirteen months, much higher than the fateful threshold of 50 points, which marks the border between expansion and contraction.

The sub-index relating to employment rose last month, compared to September, from 51,3 to 51,5 points, and that relating to expectations from 60,1 to 60,5 points. The sub-index for new orders fell from 53,4 to 51,6 points and that for export orders from 50,5 to 49,4 points.
