China and Apple clash in the "suicide factory" that produces the iPhone 5

China rebels against Apple. Last night a demonstration was staged at the Foxconn factory in Taiyan, where components for the new iPhone5 are produced. Over two thousand workers protested inside the facility. The plant employs 79.999 people and is known as the "suicide factory" due to the harsh working conditions that have prompted several employees to take their own lives.

The rage would have been triggered by a policeman who hit an employee for work-related matters. According to other sources, a fight broke out between rival groups of employees last night in the factory dormitories. Only at 3 in the morning the police, who arrested several workers, managed to restore calm. Today the plant will be closed.

Foxconn Technology Group, owned by Taiwanese Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., employs more than 1,3 million people with multiple manufacturing facilities in China and other countries, working for multinationals such as Apple, Sony, Nokia and others.
