Cima da Conegliano, works exhibited at the Intesa Sanpaolo Skyscraper for Christmas

John Baptist Cima - nicknamed Top of Conegliano (Conegliano 1459 ca. – 1517 ca.), was an Italian painter, one of the most famous exponents of the Venetian school between the 1492th and 1486th centuries. He began painting at a very young age in his hometown, to then choose Venice, where Cima is certainly documented since XNUMX (if not since XNUMX, when a "magister Zambatista pictor" sent a painted banner from Venice to Conegliano). The influences from Giambellino and Alvise Vivarini, evident from his first works, suggest that Cima frequented the workshop of one of these famous Venetian painters, or both.

the exhibited works depict the Madonna and Child and come from National Art Gallery of Bologna and from Petit Palais in Paris. These two are the "illustrious guests" protagonists of the by now traditional Turin exhibition event that the Bank organizes during the winter holidays.

The previous "illustrious guest", exhibited at the skyscraper at the end of 2019 - beginning of 2020, had in fact been the Our Lady of Alzano by Giovanni Bellini, on loan from the Accademia Carrara in Bergamo.

The Illustrious Guest is the review curated and promoted by Intesa Sanpaolo which since 2015 has been exhibiting an important work on temporary loan from prestigious Italian and foreign museums in its museums in the Gallerie d'Italia and in the Turin skyscraper. With this appointment The Illustrious Guest, made by Progetto Cultura della Banca, is now in its thirteenth edition.

The exhibition catalog is published by Edizioni Gallerie d'Italia | Skira with texts by Neville Rowley, Cécile Maisonneuve and Giorgio Fossaluzza.
