The ACe Consortium, participated by Astaldi and Cimolai, with Eie Group, was the winner in the process of awarding the contract for the design and construction of the "Dome" and the "Main Structure" of the European Extremely Large Telescope (E-ELT), the largest optical telescope in the world.

The financial committee of ESO (European Southern Observatory) has in fact authorized ESO to start the final negotiation phase with the ACe consortium, with the aim of signing the definitive contract in May 2016. All the details will be defined and communicated to signature valley.

The ACe Consortium is made up of Astaldi (65%, parent company) and Cimolai (35%), with Eie Group, international leader in management, design and construction in the astronomy and astrophysics sector.

The E-ELT will be the most important project launched by ESO to date and will lead to the construction of the largest ground-based telescope in existence today. The new telescope will be built in Chile on Cerro Armazones, in the central part of the Atacama Desert, at a height of 3.000 meters above sea level.
