Bad news for smokers Italy. From 1st February the price of cigarettes has increased, and not by a small amount. The price increases have affected the most popular brands, from Marlboro to Merit, passing through Chesterfield and Diana. How much are we talking about? Of a generalized increase of 20 cents extra per pack.
The increases are also striking cigars, cigarillos and chopped. They were established by provision n.16793/RU published in the Official Gazette on 1 February 2019.
The news was released byCustoms agency and monopolies.
As mentioned, the new increase in cigarette prices, after that established in March of 2018will not affect all brands: no markups for, for example, Camel, Lucky Strike, MS, Benson & Hedges, Gauloises and Winston.
To clarify, we report below the updated prices of all brands of cigarettes that have undergone an increase in prices on February 1, 2019. The list is edited by the State Monopolies.
