Cig, Giovannini: first the money, then the changes

The Government is evaluating "the resources available in the very short term" to refinance the redundancy fund in derogation. This was the reassurance that came today from the Minister of Labour, Enrico Giovannini, who however added: "The instrument cannot be refinanced without revisiting it". The theme will be at the center of the decree that will arrive on the table of the Council of Ministers tomorrow. The other chapters of the provision concern the postponement of the Imu down payment on the first house and the cut in the salaries of ministers who already have a seat in Parliament.

According to Giovannini, who spoke to the Senate this morning, the Cig by way of derogation is a "structural problem that cannot be addressed only through refinancing". It is necessary "much more precise monitoring" of those who exploit this tool and "we need to see - continued the minister - what type of workers we are talking about. In the case of workers who have lost contact with their jobs, it is necessary to evaluate whether in this case we have to imagine other tools". However, it will be a far from immediate process: the solution will certainly not arrive tomorrow, but "in months or next year", Giovannini specified again.

As for the exodus node, the minister made it known that “INPS is also taking into consideration all those applications that have arrived spontaneously from workers who did not have the requisites to be safeguarded. We need to understand how to intervene, what size the audience would be and the relative cost. The point is the transition to a pension system that has undergone an abrupt change ”. Giovannini believes that Elsa Fornero's pension reform can "be remodeled in order to reduce this discontinuity, naturally also assessing the associated costs".

Finally, the minister announced the convening of the social partners "to understand which are the most effective interventions" in the field of work.
