Food and health: goodbye chemicals, fruit protects itself with oil and ozone

The solution, patented by a company from Bergamo, has also been certified by the Ministry for organic farming: it stimulates the production of chlorophyll, repelling parasites and improving the quality and duration of the harvest - the case of cherries in the Veneto region.

Food and health: goodbye chemicals, fruit protects itself with oil and ozone

Protect fruit trees with a 100% natural product that respects the environment and is certified for organic farming. From today it is possible with ozonized vegetable oil, patented by the Bergamo-based company Multiossigen through the Biozon product, already on the market: it is an innovative solution that mix the vegetable oil that we commonly use in cooking and ozone, to favor the reaction that allows trees to generate a greater quantity of chlorophyll and therefore to protect themselves from infections. In other words, it gives the same result as pesticides and pesticides, i.e. killing organisms harmful to crops (viruses, bacteria, fungi and parasites), but without using chemicals.

"Biozon is not an insecticide but a repellent and a tonic, therefore a product that does not cause harmful effects on human and animal health or on the environment", certified the Ministry of Agriculture. In fact, its function is to protect the fruit by creating an olfactory barrier, thanks to which keeps away insects that can't stand the smell it gives off. “Through research – explained Professor Marianno Franzini, president of SIOOT International and inventor of Biozon -, we have discovered that oil intended for human consumption is the right vehicle for stabilizing the ozone molecule. So we started treating plants with this preparation, and we found amazing results. At that point we embarked on the bureaucratic process, with the related experiments. And from there the product was included among the corroborants for organic, biodynamic and conventional agriculture”.

The new solution not only avoids the pollution of the territory but also improves the quality of the products, to protect the final consumer: in fact, in addition to being a fundamental bactericide, coloriphyll allows for greater freshness of fruit and vegetables. The oiliness of the product makes the fruit more shiny, therefore more attractive to the eyes of the consumer, e increases the so-called shelf life, that is, its conversation, ensuring greater durability in Italian kitchens. Using the treatment in the pre-harvest phase of fruit and vegetables, it also improves their nutraceutical qualities.

The case of cherries in Veneto

The effectiveness of Biozon has already been successfully tested by the Venetian farm Alessandra Arduini, active in Valpolicella in the production of cherries, peaches and grapes. "For some years - says Alessandra Arduini, owner of the company - I had the need to 'save' my cherry harvest from attacks by Drosophila Suzukii, an insect recently introduced in our area and which was endangering the health and the quality of our fruit trees and vineyards”.

La Drosophila Suzukii it is a kind of gnat that attacks only small fruits and has been infesting some areas of the Veneto for about five/six years, with worrying effects on crops given that "it has had a rapid development and being an extremely polyphagous insect it has a great ability to move ”, says Alessandra Arduini. “The products currently on the market either have a long deficiency, understood as the period between treatment and harvesting, or they only partially defend the fields, because they are effective only on the adult forms. It happened that when I was carrying out the treatment, the insect moved quickly, only to return as soon as the effectiveness of the insecticide ended".

Mozzies eradicated, but not only: ozonized vegetable oil also strengthens the health of plants with respect to atmospheric phenomena: "For example, it protects the skin of the cherry from pouring rain, therefore prevents it from rotting and reduces the cracking effect, i.e. the breaking of the external part. I also experimented with the product on apricots, peaches and nectarines, as they showed problems similar to the Dorsophila attack I saw on cherries. The operation worked”.
