Chrysler-Uaw, reached preliminary agreement for work contract

Chrysler and the United Auto Workers have finally reached an agreement. After lengthy negotiations, the Detroit company, controlled by Fiat, and the American union have signed apreliminary agreement for the new four-year employment contract, the first since the automaker filed for bankruptcy in 2009, before being bailed out by the state.

Bob King, president of Uaw, underlines how the pact commits the company to invest 4,5 billion dollars in the production of cars and to create 2.100 new jobs by 2015.

For its part, Chrysler specifies instead that the agreement affects approx 26 thousand workers and must be ratified by Uaw members. In any case, analysts predict that the union will not be able to win a contract with Chrysler as generous as the ones it reached with GM and Ford, due to the Detroit automaker's weaker financial situation.
