Chrysler: best October in the US since 2007, Fiat flies with the 500

What closed yesterday was the best October of the last 5 years for Chrysler. The Detroit-based automaker, controlled by Fiat, sold 126.185 vehicles last month, 10% more than in the same period in 2011. This is the 31st consecutive year-over-year increase for four of the group's five brands: Chrysler, Dodge, Ram Truck and Fiat. Jeep, on the other hand, recorded a 5% decline in October.

“Despite hurricane Sandy – said Reid Bigland, sales manager for the United States of Chrysler, president and CEO of the Dodge brand – the group recorded the best October since 2007 and the thirty-first consecutive month of growth. In addition, we closed the third quarter with operating income of $706 million, up 46% from 2011, further demonstrating the validity of our rigorous approach to sales growth.

With an increase of 89%, Fiat scored the best performance among the various brands of the group. A result obtained thanks to the launch of the 500, which set a sales record in October, marking the eighth consecutive monthly record.
