Of note are the three historical works by Michelangelo Pistoletto e Alighiero Boetti, coming from the collection of Clino Trini Castelli, Italian designer and theorist of 'noform' languages, who has always been attentive to the intangible qualities in design and their role in emotional experience.

This extraordinary ensemble is made up of three seminal works, which are at the origin of Arte Povera: Portrait of Clino from 1963, a unique work, among the very first works by Pistoletto on 'vellum' applied to the mirrored surface; Drawing 5 from 1962, also by Pistoletto, drawing for a 'proto-velina', which opens the season of mirror paintings. Finally, by Alighiero Boetti, the historic Emme I Elle Elle E… from 1970, the wooden foundry matrix from which the subsequent cast iron versions were made.

In addition to constituting a very cohesive and historically important group of works, both in terms of dating and artistic relevance, this collection is a testimony to Clino's deep friendship with Alighiero and Michelangelo. At the same time it represents an important tribute to an entire era, and a rich testimony of the great cultural ferments and the profound transformations of the artistic languages that have taken place in it. What's more: today these works also offer us the possibility of investigating – through the uniqueness of Clino Castelli's experience – the true links between art and design, the relationship between two figurative fields and their way of influencing and evolving over time
