Pool with Two Figuresby the English painter David Hockney, broke all price records for a work by a living artist at Christie's New York auction. The portrait of Hockney was sold for 90 million and 312 thousand dollars, equivalent to over 70 million euros.

The painting - as FIRST Arte writes – represents the top lot in the evening sales of postwar and contemporary art. The work is inspired by the fortuitous juxtaposition of two photographs in the studio of Hockney, who worked 18-hour days for two weeks before the painting was transported to the United States.

The coup made with the sale of the Hockney painting pushes Christie's auction revenues for the season, with final sales scheduled for today. over a billion dollars.
