Chianti is looking for its enthusiasts: from May 5th to 11th the Consorzio Vino Chianti is launching the first edition of Chianti Lovers Week, a week of widespread events that will bring Chianti Docg to the streets, clubs, places of culture and conviviality of Florence and all of Tuscany. It won't be the enthusiasts who seek out Chianti but, for the first time, Chianti will come to them. A new and dynamic way to tell the identity of one of the most iconic Italian wines, through tastings, immersive experiences and contaminations with cinema, art and music. Over 40 businesses, including restaurants, wine shops and cellars, responded to the Consortium's call, ready to celebrate Chianti in its special week. And alongside the official events curated directly by the Consortium, there is a rich program of independent events that cross the entire region: from Impruneta to Empoli, from Pisa to Arezzo, from Siena to Montepulciano, Chianti will be the protagonist in tasting dinners, themed aperitifs, trekking among the rows and visits to the cellars organized by historic producers and young businesses.

It won't be the enthusiasts who seek out Chianti but, for the first time, Chianti will come to them.

The calendar of official events kicks off on Monday, May 5, at the Mercato Centrale in Florence, with a food and wine masterclass dedicated to Chianti wines that look to the future starting from tradition. On Tuesday, May 6, Chianti will be the protagonist of the “Shopping Night” at La Rinascente, in collaboration with Savino del Bene Volley, for a special toast with the team returning from the Champions League Final Four.

Thursday, May 8th sees the “Wine & Cinema Experience” event at Nana Bianca: an immersive masterclass between tastings and cult cinema scenes in which Chianti is the protagonist. Saturday, May 10th the spotlight is on the former Monastery of Sant'Orsola with “Rewriting History”: guided tours, live art and tastings in an extraordinary site that is exceptionally opening to the public.

Giovanni Busi, president of the Chianti Wine Consortium: it is a celebration, of course, but also an act of faith in the vitality of our territory

Grand finale on Sunday 11 May at the Manifattura Tabacchi with the “Chianti Lovers Closing Party”: a party open to the public with free tastings, excellent street food, swing and vintage DJ set with La Màquina Parlante and the dancers of Studio Swing 22 Firenze. The ticket includes a screen-printed glass and glass bag, to live the experience in style.

“With Chianti Lovers Week we want to talk about our wine in a new way, going beyond institutional contexts to meet people in their everyday places,” explains Giovanni Busi, president of the Consorzio Vino Chianti. “It’s a celebration, of course, but also an act of faith in the vitality of our territory, in a wine culture that can evolve without losing its roots. This week Chianti will be everywhere: close, accessible, shareable. Just the way we like it.”
