Chelsea, via Di Matteo: now a ferryman, Guardiola's dream for next season

Juventus fatal to the Chelsea coach, who despite the historic triumph in the Champions League just six months ago pays dearly for the uncertain start to this season: in his place there is talk of Benitez as a luxury ferryman, but the dream for the summer is Guardhouse.

Chelsea, via Di Matteo: now a ferryman, Guardiola's dream for next season

Despite this year's flop in the Champions League and currently third place in the league, the decision still seems ungenerous: Roberto Di Matteo had in fact, only six months ago, brought Chelsea to the throne of Europe for the first time in its history. But anyhow, Abramovich thus decided, while paying the honors of arms to the Italian coach, author against all odds of a feat, that of last season, which "will remain forever in the history of the club".

From today therefore Di Matteo is no longer the coach of the Blues: the uncertain start to the season both in the league and, above all, in the Champions League weighed on him, from which Chelsea are practically eliminated after the beating received yesterday in Turin by a wild Juventus, and after also losing in the Ukraine against Shakhtar Donetsk.

In reality, nothing was compromised, especially in the Premier League, but it was evident that the magic that accompanied Di Matteo for the 262 days of his short but intense mandate was gone. However, it can be said that once again an Italian team was fatal to the Blues bench: the Italian coach took the place of Villas Boas in March, who was in turn sacked immediately after the defeat against Napoli in the first leg of the round of XNUMX.

Di Matteo will now probably be replaced by a "ferryman", while for the next season there are rumors of Abramovich's hope of reaching Pep Guardiola, at the moment stopped for a sabbatical year and always undecided about his future (for him there is also talk of the Italy). In any case even the ferryman would not be just any name: in fact we are talking about the former Inter player Rafa Benitez in pole position.
