Bad news for the fans: starting next year, two season tickets will be needed to watch all the UEFA Champions League matches. Here's everything you need to know.

Champions between Mediaset, Sky and Amazon: a single subscription is not enough

While the battle over Serie A's TV rights is still ongoing, the picture on the broadcasting rights of Serie A becomes clearer Champions League matches for the next seasons.

Compared to the past, there is one main novelty: to watch all 137 of next season's Champions League matches a single subscription will not suffice, but at least two will be needed.

CHAMPIONS: 121 MATCHES AT MEDIASET

Mediaset announced today that it has secured the rights to broadcast 121 in 137 games he UEFA Champions League season. The rights will be valid for the 2021-2024 seasons and, according to Reuters, the Codogno company would have paid an amount between 40 and 50 million euros a year.

In detail, the Italian broadcaster will broadcast unencrypted, presumably on Canale 5, 17 matches per season (the best 16 on Tuesday evening and the final), while the other 104 matches will be visible via streaming.

And right thereor streaming will be another novelty next season: following the abandonment of Mediaset Premium, the company will once again offer viewers a paid sports offer, through an application that will be available on all devices, from smartphones to smart TVs. There is still no news on the figures, but the managing director of Mediaset, Pier Silvio Berlusconi spoke of "a valuable proposal that will give a further boost to our online offer". Reuters reports that, according to a source familiar with the situation, it will be announced by June trade policy, which will be similar to that of an over-the-top, therefore without long-term subscriptions.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: SKY'S OFFER

The same UEFA Champions League matches broadcast by Mediaset will also be broadcast on Sky, with the difference that all 121 games will be available for a fee on the Sport and Football channels of satellite TV and on Sky Go.

ENTER THE FIELD AMAZON

The main novelty of the next season will be the entry into the field of Amazon which has managed to win the rights - this time exclusive - to broadcast 16 games per season, those that will be played on Wednesday, up Prime Video. In this case, as mentioned, these are exclusive rights, and therefore the matches will not be visible either on Mediaset or on Sky. For those intending to subscribe, a Prime subscription currently costs 36 euros a year or 4,99 a month.
