Champions: Liverpool, historic victory that humiliates and eliminates Barcelona

Nobody believed it, but Liverpool's feat last night in the Champions League is one that marks the history of football.

The Reds, buoyed by the fabulous Anfield Road crowd who sang the team's mythical anthem throughout the evening, surprisingly made up for the heavy if undeserved deficit of the first leg (0-3), beating Barcelona 4-0 and conquering an incredible access to the Champions League final to be held in Madrid at the end of the month.

An exciting comeback, of which there were signs already in the first half, when Origi immediately punched the Catalans' goal. But it was in the second half that maestro Klopp's Liverpool outdid themselves, with a brace from Wijnaldum and another goal from Origi following a clever corner kick that knocked Barcelona down and knocked them out.

The genius of Messi was not enough for the Catalans, who once again demonstrated his boundless talent last night but failed to score and reverse the trend of the match.

Tonight Liverpool, which is still in the running to win the Scudetto in the Premier League and contends for victory against Guardiola's Manchester City, will know the name of their opponent in the Champions League final after the return match in Amsterdam among the terrible kids of the 'Ajax, who won the first leg 1-0, and Pochettino's Tottenham.

Liverpool's was a victory of heart and mind, obtained also thanks to the skilful psychological charge of Klopp, who told his team in the interval: "It's difficult, but only you can do it". A push that overturned all predictions, making happy, in addition to the fans of the Reds, also the Madrid rivals of Barcelona - Real Madrid and Atletico in the first place - who lived as a nightmare the possibility that the hated blaugrana would go on to win yet another Champions League right in their home.

Of course, we will remember a Champions League so full of surprises and twists for a long time.
