CHAMPIONS LEAGUE – Juve finds itself again: liquidates Sevilla and is first in the group

The other side of Juventus. Which in this edition of the Champions League confirms its best version, far from the dull one of the championship. In Europe, the black and whites are transformed: after the success at Manchester City, here's the one against Sevilla, the first within the friendly walls of the Stadium. Three golden points that are worth the primacy in the group, as well as a big step forward towards the round of XNUMX.

“The lads had a good game – commented Allegri – In Europe, if you don't play football well, it's very difficult to win. Unlike Naples, we were united and compact, I'm very satisfied." Sigh of relief for the Tuscan coach, forced to win the three points in order not to end up, even more so, at the center of the controversy.

Yesterday evening, to find the first home win of the season, he chose to face Sevilla with a 3-5-2 formation, with Barzagli protecting Cuadrado, the Hernanes trio, Khedira (returning from injury) and Pogba, the duo Dybala-Morata in attack. And the Spaniard once again proved to be decisive on the stage of the Champions League: he scored the game-changing goal in the 41st minute with a nice header from an assist by Barzagli. Logical conclusion of a first half played well, at unusually high pace as seen so far.

The lead at half-time then allowed for a controlled recovery, with Juve getting the ball around and Sevilla attempting a reaction, to tell the truth without many results. Emery's team is not much, without Rami, Banega and the former Llorente: the 16th place in La Liga is not just a coincidence ... In the final then the 2-0 goal: counterattack signed by Dybala-Zaza, with the former Sassuolo scored 7 minutes after his entry into the field in place of Morata (87').

“I don't have to take off any pebbles, I believe in my work – continued Allegri. – In 5 years, between Milan and Juve, I've achieved moderate results, then I can be liked or not but that's not my problem". In short, the nerves are still uncovered, on the other hand a victory, however important, is not enough to erase all the difficulties at the beginning of the season.

In the meantime, however, the path in the Champions League is as good as smooth: a home victory against Borussia Moenchengladbach, yesterday defeated by Manchester City in a comeback (1-2), could almost completely seal the transition to the knockout stages. A good result, which, combined with the restart in the league, could change the Juventus season.
