Champions, Atletico feat: Barça out

Historic feat of Atletico Madrid, which surprisingly eliminates Barcelona from the Champions League. In the second leg of the quarter-finals, Simeone's team overturned the 2-1 conceded (in comeback) at the Camp Nou with a 2-0 that drove Vicente Calderon crazy with joy. The match was decided by a brace from Griezman: one goal in each half, the first with a header, the second from a penalty.

The qualification of Atletico Madrid is well deserved, dominating in the first half (closed on 1-0) and containing the outbursts of a Barcelona as angry as it is disordered in the second. Blaugrana affected and evanescent in the first 45 minutes. Luis Enrique's men have a lot of ball possession (over 70%), but they don't exploit it properly. While Atletico get the most out of what they have left, making good use of the side lanes with Gabi and Fernandez.

Passage also won by Bayern Munich who drew 2-2 at Benfica (beaten 1-0 in Germany). In Lisbon, Guardiola surprisingly excludes Robert Lewandowski. The Bayern coach does not give Benfica points of reference, deploying Thomas Mueller as a central striker and reinforcing the midfield with the entry of Xabi Alonso. However, it was Jimenez who unlocked the match, making the hosts dream. Vidal will take care of it (he also scored in the first leg) to restore parity. In the second half Mueller put Bayern ahead, but Benfica didn't give up and found the 2-2 through Talisca.
