Ceta: ok to the agreement with Canada, in extremis Wallonia says yes

The veto that for days prevented the go-ahead for the strategic trade agreement has been released. However, there was not time to hold the planned summit in Brussels which was to allow the signing of the agreement and its provisional entry into force: in fact, Prime Minister Trudeau had already postponed the flight. 12 billion exchanges on the plate

Ceta: ok to the agreement with Canada, in extremis Wallonia says yes

The push and pull on Ceta, the important trade agreement between the European Union and Canada, is on its way to a happy ending that this morning, when Prime Minister Trudeau he had canceled his trip to Brussels, it seemed so far away. The Belgian region of Wallonia, who with his "no" was blocking an agreement worth 12 billion trades, finally gave the green light to the agreement, which in any case cannot be signed today, even if a new summit will in all probability be organized in the coming days.

The Belgian premier announced the agreement reached Michel. The agreement will then have to be sent to the EU and to the Parliaments of the various Belgian regions, which will express themselves by Friday at midnight. In order for the Belgian government to sign, in fact, the approval of all the regions is required.

Although it cannot yet be considered a done deal, given that the agreement must be approved by the EU countries, the agreement seems to be heading towards success. The issues to be resolved with Wallonia seem to have been resolved, relating to the fears of the Region on the arbitration court, called to resolve disputes between the State and companies and on the reduction of national sovereignty, in the face of an international treaty of such importance.

Although the story is, therefore, on its way to a happy ending, it still seems destined to fuel discussions and reasoning on mechanisms of the trade policy of the Union which, apparently, can be blocked and weakened by the "no" of a region inhabited by 3,5 million people.
