2012 was it again a black year for Italian companies: according to Cerved, in fact, 12.000 bankruptcies, 2.000 non-bankruptcy procedures and 90.000 liquidations were recorded during the entire year. I am over 104 thousand, therefore, the companies entered into crisis or that have had to close their doors, a number up by 2,2% compared to that recorded in 2011.
“These data – reads the note from Cerved, a company specializing in business analysis – are accompanied by a boom in the new forms of arrangement with creditors, introduced by the reform that came into force in September: it is estimated that in the fourth quarter of the year alone around 1.000 applications have been presented, especially in the form of composition with reserve".
Compared to the last pre-crisis year, i.e. 2008, bankruptcies grew by 64%. The number of companies closed in services (+3,1%) and construction (+2,7%) increased, while in manufacturing bankruptcies, while remaining at very high levels, fell by 6,3% compared to 2011.
Looking at the sectors, concludes Cerved's note, "the incidence of defaults observed during the crisis is particularly high in typical Made in Italy sectors such as the home system (7,9%), the fashion system (7,1%) , the production of intermediate goods (5,5%), mechanics (5,1%)”. From a territorial point of view, on the other hand, “the crisis was felt more strongly among businesses in the North of the Peninsula (3,5% in the North-West and 3,2% in the North-East), compared to the Centre-South (2,7%)".
