Shopping centres: Generali creates joint venture and investment fund

Generali launches a new real estate company dedicated to investments in shopping centres. Is called Axis Retail Partners and it is a j strategy in which Generali holds the majority stake of 51% through Generali Investments Holding SpA The other shareholders are Florencio Beccar and Toby Smith, two professionals who are experts in investing and managing shopping centres.

“This partnership is in line with Generali's strategy to further increase its exposure to the real estate sector – reads the note from the Italian group – in which it is already one of the leading investors in the world through Generali Real Estate”.

In the last ten years, in Europe, the average annual volume of investment in shopping centers has been around 20 billion euros.

“The shopping center sector continues to be characterized by solid fundamentals – continues Generali – and in the light of the current economic scenario it offers interesting investment opportunities”.

By the second quarter of 2019, it will also be launched on the market General Shopping Center Fund, the first fund dedicated to the sector, whose portfolio will be managed by Generali Real Estate SpA SGR.

Axis Retail Partners will act as advisor to Generali Real Estate SpA SGR with regard to investment selection and fund management.

Generali will guarantee an initial investment of 500 million in the fund, which will also be open to third party clients and which will invest in high quality, “core” and successful shopping centers located in continental Europe.
