Franco Bernabè is the new non-executive chairman of Cellnex Telecom, an infrastructure operator for wireless telecommunications and radio broadcasting, with a portfolio of over 45 towers. The appointment came today from the board of directors of the company which at the same time confirmed Tobias Martinez in the role of managing director.
Franco Bernabè is currently president of Fb Group, an investment company based in Rome. Until February 2019 he was president of Nexi, an Italian payment systems company, and until 2003 he held the position of president and chief executive officer of Telecom Italia and president of GSMA (the international association that brings together mobile operators).
Involved in culture, Bernabè is also president of the Rome Quadrennial Foundation and president of the Italian National Commission of Unesco. He is senior advisor of Barclays Bank. In 2011 he was appointed Cavaliere del Lavoro by the President of the Italian Republic.
