Cellnex, Bernabè leaves the presidency: "Mission accomplished"

After more than a year and a half, Franco Bernabe, former CEO of Eni and Telecom Italia, leaves the presidency of Cellnex, the Spanish company of telecommunications towers of which the Benetton family is the first shareholder with a 13,5% shareholding of Edizione Holding.

In a note sent by the company to the Spanish Stock Exchange Authority (the CNMV) there is talk of "personal reasons". In reality, Bernabè considers this phase closed because "the mission of contributing to the relaunch and great international growth of Cellnex can now be considered "completed".

Under the chairmanship of Bernabè, who will be temporarily replaced by the vice chairman Bertrand Kan, Cellnex has in fact experienced a season of great dynamism with two capital increases of 6,5 billion euro, acquisitions for 14 billion e a growth on the Stock Exchange of 34,4%. In other words: tripled value, doubling of sites and rain of acquisitions that have made Cellnex the absolute queen of towers in Europe and one of the first groups in the world in its field.

In the last year and a half they especially stand out the deal with the English Arqiva and the agreement with Ck Hutchinson through which the Hong Kong conglomerate will sell its European towers to Cellnex, becoming a shareholder with a 5% stake. In short, "mission accomplished", and from today Bernabè will be able to cultivate the many projects he has in mind.
