CDP Venture Capital today presented the new Industrial Plan 2024-2028 with which the objective is to reach 8 billion euros of resources under management, of which 1 billion raised by third parties, to support the development of innovation Italian through investments in the 7 areas classified as most strategic for the country and by attracting private capital. The attention of Cdp Venture Capital, led by the President Anna Lambiase and by the CEO and General Manager Agostino Scornajenchi, it is mainly aboutArtificial intelligence , Cybersecurity, "with a focus on investments on strategic macro-areas for the growth of the Italian economy, support for the creation of value in the portfolio and centrality of fundraising by private investors" says the SGR, 70% owned by CDP Equity and 30% from Invitalia.

Two different types of intervention: in the embryonic phase and in the mature phase

Two pillars of intervention. On the one hand, CDP Venture Capital aims to support the Italian Venture Capital infrastructure through supporting investments of new businesses in embryonic stage – so-called pre-seed and seed – and investments in Venture Capital funds to fuel the medium and long-term growth of the market and the skills to support innovation. On the other hand it wants to stimulate the growth and maturation of the ecosystem through direct investments specialized by sector, in maturation stages – so-called early stage and late stage – to support the development projects of Italian startups in the most strategic fields and technologies for the country which have been identified as Artificial Intelligence & Cybersecurity, AgrifoodTech, SpaceTech, Healthcare & Lifescience, CleanTech, IndustryTech, InfraTech & Mobility.

One billion resources dedicated to Artificial Intelligence

THEartificial intelligence, in particular, plays a central role in the CDP Venture Capital strategy with 1 billion euro of resources dedicated to the growth of the sector in three specific areas: 120 million dedicated to technology transfer, link between university research and the market; 580 million investments in startup with sectoral applications to strengthen existing actors; 300 million investments in mature companies ready to climb abroad and become future national champions.
