During the fourth stage of its Roadshow, Cdp took stock of its operations in Tuscany. Also committed 55 million for infrastructure projects of strategic importance

The report of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti with Tuscany can be summarized in a few numbers: 3 billion in favor of over 5.000 businesses and 138 public entities in Tuscany, a renegotiation of mortgages for over one billion in favor of 177 local entities and advisory activities on PNRR funds for projects dedicated to local development. 

The data was presented during the fourth stage of the CDP Roadshow which was held on 26 October in Florence with the aim of making known the tools and projects of the group in favor of companies and the Public Administration to face the challenges related to sustainable development, the implementation of the PNRR, urban regeneration, digitization and the improvement of social cohesion.

During today's appointment at the Manifattura Tabacchi in Florence in the presence of Giovanni Gorno Tempini, President of CDP e Dario Scannapieco, managing director and general manager, were attended by Eugenio Giani, president of the Tuscany Region, Dario Nardella, mayor of Florence, Brenda Barnini, Anci Tuscany delegate for Local Finance and mayor of Empoli, Maurizio Bigazzi, president of Confindustria Toscana, Giovanni Manfredi, director delegate Manifattura Tabacchi and Luigi Salvadori, president of the CR Firenze Foundation. 

According to the provisions, in order to enhance the cultural and artistic heritage of the Cdp Group, an exhibition dedicated to the story of industrial life will be set up in each territorial office of Cassa. In particular, in the one in Florence, the experimental works created in the XNUMXs and coming from the Historical Photographic Fund of Cdp will be exhibited.

CDP and Tuscan companies

Cdp opened an office in Florence in October 2020. From 2019 to 2021, the company provided resources for 1,8 billion in support of over 5.000 companies, financing 34 directly. Among the various operations, CDP highlights the 30 million loan granted to Piaggio for its development plan, the 4 million loan to Stefano Ricci, one of the leading players in the clothing sector, and the 20 million loan to Aboca, a company founded on research that offers 100% natural therapeutic products.

Cdp and the Tuscan Public Administration

Since 2019, CDP has committed resources for over 825 million in support of 138 Tuscan public bodies, for the realization of investments mainly in the areas: schools, revaluation of public buildings and roads. Among others, we highlight the operations in favor of: 

  • Tuscany Region, 14 million for the purchase of plant, machinery, means of transport and health equipment to be allocated to the Covid Pegaso Center in Prato and in 2021 resources of 158 million intended - among other interventions - for the construction of the new hospital in Livorno and the Le Scotte of the University of Siena.
  • Municipality of Bagno a Ripoli, 6,5 million for the expansion and redevelopment of the “Francesco Redi” secondary school in Ponte a Niccheri.
  • Municipality of Pontedera, 10 million for the purchase of a property to be used for the construction of the new "Dino Carlesi" school complex.

With regard to investments within the framework of the PNRR, with the tender for the attractiveness of villages, 13 applications were presented by small Tuscan municipalities for a total amount of state funding of over 22 million.

Infrastructure, Venture Capital and real estate

Cdp also supported the development plans of the Tramway of Florence, committing 55 million, while in venture capital it has already directly supported 8 startups in the region with a total commitment of around 9 million. 

Furthermore, the Sant'Anna High School of Pisa, together with the Italian Institute of Technology, the Federico II University of Naples and the University of Verona, is among the centers belonging to RoboIT, the National Technology Transfer Pole dedicated to Robotics, which CDP Venture Capital finances through the own Technology Transfer Fund to encourage the creation of new startups with a high technological content conceived within universities and research centers of excellence. 

Finally, in the sector real estate, Cdp group is indirectly engaged in the implementation of initiatives of social housing (for over 1.250 social housing) through the Fondo Investimenti per l'Abitare (FIA), managed by Cdp Immobiliare Sgr which has invested around 105 million in the area, compared to the total subscriptions of around 150 million of the Fondo Housing Toscano, in collaboration with the Foundations of banking origin and other local stakeholders.
