CDP: maxi dividend of 2,153 billion, MEF 1,78 billion

Al Mef 1,78 billion in dividends. Money that comes in handy at a time when the state needs resources more than ever to channel funds to the real economy grappling with the economic crisis resulting from the coronavirus pandemic. The CDP shareholders' meeting has given the green light to the 2019 financial statements, closed with a net profit of 2,735 billion euro, funding of 356 billion euro and consolidated shareholders' equity of 36,1 billion euro. Furthermore, in 2019, Cassa Depositi e Prestiti mobilized 34,6 billion of resources, giving a contribution equal to 2,4% of the national GDP.

Precisely by virtue of the results obtained last year, the meeting which met today – 21 May – also approved a substantial coupon in favor of its shareholders. Out of 2,73 billion in profits, the dividend will reach 2,153 billion euros. Who will this money go to? To the two shareholders of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, i.e. the Ministry of Economy and Finance, first shareholder with 82,77% of the capital, and to the Banking Foundations, holding a minority share of 15,93 % (the remaining 1,3% are treasury shares). Therefore, by making a simple calculation it is easy to understand how a dividend of 1,78 billion euros will go to the MEF, whileand the remaining 343 million euros will be allocated to the Foundations.

Last year, on the results achieved in 2018, the giant led by Fabrizio Palermo approved a dividend of 1,5 billion euros (on a net profit of 2,5 billion) and an extraordinary coupon of 960 million. The Ministry of Economy and Finance received 1,3 billion in the first instance and 794,5 million in the second, 250 million in May and 153 million in June to the banking foundations.
