Cdp launches Tech4Planet: 55 million for sustainability

CDP Venture Capital Sgr lancia Tech4Planet, a technological pole created in collaboration with the Polytechnics of Milan, Turin and Bari. The goal is to facilitate market access and the growth of companies that were born in research laboratories and are dedicated to environmental sustainability. The total investment will reach up to 55 million euros, allocated by the Technology Transfer Fund of CDP Venture Capital Sgr. The leverage effect could reach 130 million euros in four years for the creation of 60 new companies.

Part of the investment, explains a note, will be dedicated to supporting the launch of new Venture Capital Funds specialized in the sectors of environmental sustainability, which will have the task of financing the most promising startups. The researchers will benefit from economic resources and specialist skills to carry out technical and business feasibility studies, thanks to the involvement of various incubators: PoliHub, I3P and the new structure of the Polytechnic of Bari.

"Technology transfer is a fundamental process for bridging the still wide gap in Italy between research and the market - explains Enrico Resmini, CEO and general manager of CDP Venture Capital Sgr - The establishment of the Tech4Planet pole marks another important step on the path we are along with the Technology Transfer Fund, aimed at creating a series of National Technology Transfer Poles able to federate the best Universities and Research Centers and industrial partners to create a network, support the creation of new businesses and foster a culture of Venture Capital specialized in frontier technologies”.

The Polytechnic of Milan, “among the first universities in Italy to adopt a business incubator – adds the rector Ferruccio Resta – is now joining the Polytechnic of Turin and that of Bari in a national project which demonstrates, to all effects, the centrality of the academic system in entrepreneurial development".
